ROCKWELL CITY – Dwight Julian Ledford, 90, of Rockwell City, formerly of Barnum, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson, IA, with Father Brian Danner officiating. A private burial will be at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Barnum, IA. Visitation is Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson, IA, where there will be a rosary by the KC’s at 4:00 p.m. and a parish prayer vigil at 6 p.m.

Dwight is survived by his children Judy Winninger of Dayton, IA; Tom (Patricia) Ledford of Barnum, IA; Linda (Mark) Williams of Ft. Collins, CO; Jim (Sue) Ledford of Ft. Dodge, IA; Sandy (Steve) Flatgard of Solon, IA; Bob (Roxy) Ledford of Nampa, ID; 20 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife Bernadeen; parents Jess and Margaret (Lynch) Ledford; and brother Donald Ledford.

Dwight Julian Ledford, the son of Jess and Margaret (Lynch) Ledford, was born February 15, 1924, on the family farm S.W. of Barnum, IA and graduated from Barnum High School in 1941. On September 1, 1948, Dwight married Bernadeen Coppinger at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Ft. Dodge, IA. Dwight was a farmer and truck driver. Dwight and Bernadeen lived on the family farm until 2010, then moved to Rockwell City. Dwight was very proud of his family. A part of Dwight’s heart went with Bernadeen last October. Through faith and hope they are together again.

We are truly fortunate to have such a wonderful place as Paula J. Baber Hospice House that cared for our Dad on his final journey home. We thank the volunteers and staff for the wonderful and compassionate care they gave our Dad this past month.
