Iowa Central concert at St. Mark’s
Iowa Central Community College Music Department and TRIO Program will collaborate with St. Mark’s Episcopal Church to present a celebration of music at noon April 4 at St. Mark’s Church, 1007 First Ave. S. The 62-voice Concert Choir, along with members of the Iowa Central Brass Ensemble and Vocal Jazz Ensemble, will perform selections from their upcoming April Showcase concert.
Kris Nerem-Lowery, past president of Iowa TRIO and TRIO education specialist/tutor coordinator at Iowa Central, will speak of the mission and needs of the TRIO program. A freewill offering will be available for those wishing to make a contribution to this program.
Iowa TRIO is a group of colleges and universities committed to the dream of education for all Americans, regardless of race, ethnic background or economic circumstances. TRIO includes seven outreach and support programs targeted to serve and assist low-income, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-baccalaureate programs.
