Triton softball squad wins twice
TITUSVILLE, Fla. – The Iowa Central softball team went 2-1 on its spring trip here Monday.
The Tritons (15-3 overall) downed Kishwaukee and Waubonsee by scores of 12-3 and 4-0, respectively. Iowa Central also fell to the Chiefs by a 6-4 final.
Taylor Barnett went a combined 5-for-8 offensively for the Tritons. Emilee Dorpinghaus, Sammie Hildreth and Nicole Dobernecker each added four hits. Two of Dobernecker’s hits were home runs – her seventh and eighth of the year.
Carmen Rivera and Allie Ingalls (North Union) both recorded wins in the circle for Iowa Central. Rivera allowed six hits and two earned runs over four innings of work, while Ingalls went the distance.
“Everybody got to play (Monday), which is a good thing,” ICCC head coach Josh Sandin said. “I like the way we battled against a Waubonsee team that is 10-1 down (in Florida).”
Iowa Central returns to action on Tuesday morning in a doubleheader against Century. First pitch is set for 9 a.m.
