LAKE CITY – Othmar (Ott) Bachman, 92, died Friday, March 14, 2014 at Shady Oaks Care Center, Lake City. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Lampe Funeral Home. Vigil service will be at 4:30 pm with a Parish Rosary at 7:00 pm. Mass of the Christian burial will be held on Wednesdayat 10:30am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Auburn with Fr. Lynn Bruch officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Auburn. Military rites by the Auburn American Legion. Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City is handling the arrangements.

Ott was born November 8, 1921 to Anton and Helena (Neppl) Bachman. Ott enlisted in the United States Navy September 4, 1942 and was discharged on January 12, 1946. On January 20, 1948 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Fangman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City. After their marriage they farmed near Laurens, Iowa for 17 years before moving to Auburn to farm in 1968. Ott is survived by his 12 children Delaine (Duane) Petersen of Cedar Rapids, Mike (Donna) of Carroll, Rich (Barb) of Stuart, Tom of Auburn, Janice (Ken) Hanson of Duncombe, Stan (Candy Morrow) of Lake City, Marilyn (Herb) Schaefer of Cedar Rapids, Judy (Rick) Handlos of Lake City, David of Detroit, MI, Barb (Dennis) Cook of Des Moines, Susan (Kirk) Meyer of Hiawatha, and Dean (Jackie) of Watertown, WI. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Survivors include brothers; Eddie, Carroll, Duane (Fran), Auburn, Jim (Jennie), Oregon, and in-laws Helen Bachman, Auburn, Edgar Koster, Nevada, Irene Bachman, California and Shirley Fangman, California. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Betty), parents Anton and Helena, brothers Cletus and Raphael, sisters Marilyn (in infancy) and Delores Koster, in- laws Art Fangman, Alphonse and ElnaFangman, 2 grandchildren Matthew Petersen and Tyler Cook, and many other loving relatives and friends.

Ott was a member of the Auburn American Legion and Lions Club.
