Humboldt singers to perform in Spencer

HUMBOLDT – Humboldt Community Chorus, under the direction of Terry Nelson, will present highlights from its annual variety show, “Feel the Rhythm.” on March 29 at the Clay County Regional Events Center’s Grand Ballroom in Spencer.

The 70-member chorus and 20-piece big band will perform a mix of pop, gospel and patriotic favorites as well as some comedy numbers by small groups.

The upbeat, family-friendly show attracts four sold-out crowds every February in Humboldt. The group has also performed at the Iowa State Fair, Clay County Fair, numerous benefits and community events, and most recently performed with world-renowned Iowan and opera singer Simon Estes for his youth scholarship program, “Roots and Wings.”

The chorus has been in existence since the 1950s and prides itself on producing an entertaining, fast-paced show year after year. Ages in the group range from the 80s to recent high school graduates, with many family combinations present. The group stays very involved in the community throughout the year with performances at area churches, care centers, Veterans’ programs and raises money for their own Relay for Life team.
