Kathy Linn (Myers) Olson, 52, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, was called home to heaven where she was reunited with her “Momma” Janet Myers and husband Mark on Feb. 28, 2014. Kathy passed away at Trinity Regional Medical Center surrounded by her daughter Tiffany Olson, family and friends after a courageous battle against breast cancer. Until her final breath, Kathy was optimistic about her prognosis and encouraged by the overwhelming outpouring of support from her loved ones, friends and acquaintances.
Kathy was born April, 14, 1961 as the youngest of six children in Mauston, Wis. After graduating from Mauston High School, Kathy was united in marriage to the love of her life Mark Olson. Together they welcomed a beautiful daughter Tiffany Jo. Kathy had many roles in life as a sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend; but the role Kathy cherished most and was arguably her greatest accomplishment in life was being a mother to her daughter.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Tiffany of Mauston, Wis.; siblings Debbie (Mike) Sachinski of Homestead, Fla., Kim (Maryann) Catlin of Boston, Mass., Steve Myers of Mauston, Wis., and Donna Fischer of Mauston, Wis.; uncles including Edward Southworth, Robert Nichols and Leo Nichols; nieces and nephews including Jeff, Janna, Bryan, Jared, Stacy, Carrie, Cassie, Katie, Scott, Ashley, Chelsey and countless great nieces and nephews; and her special friend Dave Carlson. Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Mark Olson, mother Janet Myers, father Donnie Myers and sister Janine Herka. A memorial in celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at a later date.
Kathy’s loved ones and family would like to thank the phenomenal nursing, medical, palliative, and hospice staff at Trinity Regional Medical Center of Fort Dodge for the wonderful care they provided Kathy along with her family the final days of her life.
