EAGLE GROVE – Harold Lucius Lewright, Jr., the son of Harold Lucius, Sr. and Erma (Harges) Lewright, was born March 4, 1923, on the family farm near Sanborn in O’Brien County, Iowa. The family later moved to Eagle Grove. Harold lettered in wrestling and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1940. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Italy during W.W.II from 1943 to 1945 and after returning home from the war he attended Iowa State University.

Harold was united in marriage with Gerry Lewright on September 12, 1948. The couple owned and operated meat lockers in Vincent and Woostock and then after his father retired they took over Lewright Locker in Eagle Grove, retiring in 1983.

Harold was a member of Holmes Baptist Church, serving as a deacon as well as a member of the American Legion. His hobbies include traveling, fishing and lapidary work.

Harold passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion at the age of 91 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gerry on April 24, 2007 and sister, Helen Kirby.

Survivors include his son, John Lewright and wife Kima of Eagle Rock, MO and their children Derrick, Kelli, Charlie and Josh; daughters, Barbara Bubeck and husband Paul of Eagle Grove and their children Ethen and Joshua and Nancy Barge and husband Roger of Eureka Springs, AR; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Ruth Vilmain of New Mexico.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Eagle Grove with Pastors Zach Fischer and Derrick Lewright officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
