Harold L. Harvey, 90, of Fort Dodge passed away on Wednesday February 26, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday March 3, 2014 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Willer officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Harold was born in Fort Dodge on January 3, 1924 to Walter and Helen (Hepperle) Harvey. He grew up and attended school in Fort Dodge and the served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Loretta Smith on August 18, 1949 in Fort Dodge. They made their home on the family farm near Badger until 1992, retiring into Fort Dodge. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, VFW Post 1856 and a former member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Club. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, woodworking, gardening, keeping up his buildings and in earlier years restoring wrecked cars. He became a great cook and baker.

Harold is survived by his children Norma (Bill) Lee of South St. Paul, MN, Arlene (Roger) Summers of Fort Dodge and Jim (Deb) Harvey of Fort Dodge; his sister Irene (Albert) Swalla of Newton, IA; his grandchildren Katie Lee, Scott (Amy) Summers, Chad (Rachael) Summers, Michelle Harvey, Marie Harvey and Mike Harvey; great-grandchildren Bridget, Jack and Dayne Summers, DeAndre Harvey, Zach Bradford, Lexi Hanson, Gavin Mikesell, Shae and Layndon Harvey and step-grandchildren Paull Gareiss and Orlando Peace. He was preceded in death by his wife Loretta; parents Walter and Helen and his brother Lloyd Harvey.
