BASTROP, Texas – Dale Nerhus Hintch of Bastrop, TX passed away on February 19, 2014 at the age of 83. Dale was born in Industry, Iowa to Willie H. and Cora M. Hintch on July 21, 1930. He attended school in Fort Dodge, Iowa. In 1948 he joined the US Air Force, serving as a mechanic. He continued in the Air Force from 1951 to 1953 as an Airman in the Air National Guard during the Korean War.

On October 11, 1959 he married Patricia (Pat) McMullen at Grace Episcopal Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They were married 52 years until her death on February 6, 2012. They were members of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Ft. Dodge for 18 years, where he served as Senior Warden of the vestry. They raised their children, Chris and Bill, in Ft. Dodge.

Dale worked as a salesman in Ft. Dodge for a number of years until joining Mulroney Construction, where he learned the concrete and masonry trade. He eventually started his own construction business, DalHi Construction which he ran for five years. In 1981 Dale moved to Austin, TX to work for Johnny Faul Construction. After Pat completed her teaching contract in Ft. Dodge she joined him in Austin.

They were active members of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Austin, staying involved in many church functions. Dale served on the building committee and was always ready to do whatever repairs were needed. His hobbies in later life included carpentry and reading. His favorite place was the Bastrop Public Library.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Cora, his wife Patricia, his sisters Madonna Schulze, Ermadell Strom, Yvonne Martin, and young Ardis Hintch. He is survived by his daughter Christian (Jeffrey) Fiebrich of Bastrop; son William Hintch (Betty) of Arlington Hts., IL; and grandchildren Caitlyn Fiebrich and Mateo Hintch. Services were Monday, February 24, 2014 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Austin, TX. Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Ft. Dodge, IA.
