Symphony to perform March 2

The Fort Dodge Area Symphony will present the third concert of the season March 2 at 3 p.m.. at the Fort Dodge Middle School auditorium. The concert will be under the direction of Joshua Barlage, managing director of the Des Moines Symphony Academy. The concert is “Trumpet Spectacular” featuring Dr. James Bovinette, trumpet. He is the director of the jazz ensemble program and professor of trumpet at Iowa State University. Admission is by season membership or $10 for adult and $6 for students at the door

Bovinette will perform Tartini’s Trumpet Concerto in D major. The concert will open with Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.” The concert will close with Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 in D Major “Haffner.”
