Lois O. Johnson, 85, of Fort Dodge passed away on Tuesday February 11, 2014 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Lois will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Lois was born in Fort Dodge on September 1, 1928 to Oscar and Myrtle (Rydlund) Olson. She grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High. She continued her education to graduate from the University of Iowa, and she was a proud Hawkeye.

Lois and Karl Johnson were united in marriage on June 21, 1950. Lois was an active member of the League of Women Voters and served as a troop leader in the Lakota Council of the Girl Scouts for many years. She was an amazing homemaker and cook and a wonderful mother. She was a dedicated bridge player and a member of American Contract Bridge League. Lois was also an avid golfer and achieved three holes-in-one, two at the Fort Dodge Country Club (holes #8 and #13) and one in Palm Springs, CA.

Lois is survived by her husband Karl; children Beth Anne Johnson of Silver Spring, MD, Jeff (Janine) Johnson of Cathedral City, CA, Jenny (Harry) Thomas of Humboldt, IA and Sally Jane (Jack) Boatman of Fond du Lac, WI; her grandchildren James (Sandy) Ralston, Scott (Ashley) Ralston, Lindsey Thomas, Clarissa Thomas, Anna Boatman and Eric Boatman; great-grandchildren Ava Ralston, Emma Ralston and Hunter Ralston and her brother-in-law Gordon Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Myrtle and her sister Donna Rae Henderson.
