GILMORE CITY – Christine Nielsen, 84 of Gilmore City died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Mary Greely Hospital in Ames, IA. Services will be held Wednesday 10:30 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, Gilmore City with burial to follow at Marble Valley Cemetery, Gilmore City. Visitation will be held from 4-8 Pm Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home in Gilmore City.
Christine Nielsen, the daughter of Ferris and Bertha (Mace) Johnston was born November 26, 1929 in Allerton, Iowa. She moved with her family to Gilmore City in 1932 and graduated from the Gilmore City High School in 1947. She worked at the First National Bank in Humboldt for a short while and was married to her husband of 62 years Fred Nielsen on February 11, 1951. The couple lived and farmed in Gilmore City during their married lives.
Survivors include her husband Fred, Gilmore City, IA, and six daughters: Dianne (Tom) Harrison of Gilmore City, IA, Marilyn (Andy) Russell of Gilmore City, IA, Judy (Jim) Shields of Lineville, IA, Jane (Jack) Pershy of Corydon, IA, Kathy (Wayne) Frazier of Denison, IA, and Becky (Don) Jergens of Spirit Lake, IA, 14 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
