GOWRIE – Evelyn A. Scott 75, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Callender, with Pastor Jon Rollefson officiating. Burial will be at Gowrie Township Cemetery, Gowrie. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Evelyn is survived by her husband Roy; daughters, Mary (Michael) Keen of Callender, and Cynthia McKeehan of Bode; sons, David (Kim) Scott of Fort Dodge, and RobertScott of Salisbury, NC; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Delores Black of Fort Dodge; and brothers, James Lybarger of Estherville, and Roger Armstrong of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Stevens and Vera Lucille Shadbolt; step-father John Armstrong; sister Vera Lybarger; and granddaughter Jennifer Scott.

Evelyn Ann Stevens Scott was born September 28, 1938 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High with the Class of 1956. On September 30, 1956 she was united in marriage to Roy Scott. In 1957, the couple established their home in California for 5 years, and then returned to Fort Dodge. In 1969, they made their home in Gowrie. Evelyn worked various jobs in Fort Dodge. From 1974 to 1979, Evelyn and Roy owned and operated R & E Caf in Lehigh. Evelyn also worked for Dickson Hatchery for a number of years, and 20 years for McCrary-Rost Medical Clinic, Gowrie. For the past 40 years, Evelyn has shared her passion for the roller skating business, starting in 1970, with managing the Wheels of GYC Rolling Skating Rink in Gowrie, until 1982. She then managed the Dodger Carousel in Fort Dodge, and then roller skating rink in Ida Grove. In 1986, she returned to the Gowrie Skating Rink in the new building.
