FD council to mull emergency agency funding
The Fort Dodge City Council will discuss funding for the Webster County Emergency Management Agency when it meets Monday.
The council will meet at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S.
The city officials and their counterparts on the Webster County Board of Supervisors are working on budgets for the fiscal year that begins July 1 and ends on June 30, 2015. The supervisors have said they want the cities in the county to help pay for the emergency management agency.
According to a proposal presented at a recent Board of Supervisors’ meeting, the city would be expected to contribute $24,375 for the agency.
The city previously levied a property tax of 2 cents per $1,000 of taxable value to support the emergency management agency, but did not do so for the current fiscal year.
The City Council will also review proposed spending plans for the parking system and various administrative functions.
The possible property tax rate for 2014-2015 will also be reviewed.
