AUBURN – Bernice Sievers, 87, died Friday, January 24, 2014 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church with Rev. Craig Zandi officiating and burial in Oaklawn Cemetery in Auburn. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m-8:00 p.m. on Monday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Lake City. Lampe Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Bernice Joann Sievers was born on August 25, 1926 in Carroll to Paul and Angie (Johnson) Freese. On September 4,1947 she married Lester Sievers at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church, rural Breda. Bernice worked as a homemaker and cleaned and ironed for many families in the surrounding areas. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards with the 6 ladies, working with flowers, and feeding the squirrels. Bernice was a member of the Ladies Aid of Pilgrim & Zion and Cover Girls Quilting.
Bernice is survived by her children Kristy (Harold) Hare of Lake City, Rick (Sue)Sievers of Auburn, Jeff (Lori)Sievers of Lake City, Paul Sievers of Carroll and Lori (Jim) Brown of Bennington, NE, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester in 1982, son Craig in 1954, daughter-in-law CandySievers in 2005, and sister Angie Schwarzkopf in 2013.
