Second round of ‘Sports Remembered’ books arrive

Readers brought the past to life by submitting nearly 500 photos for the Messenger’s ”Sports Remembered” book – a 144-page eclectic tribute to our area’s distinct athletic history.

Brisk sales led to a clean sweep of our original inventory before Christmas, but copies are again available for immediate purchase through our main office. This is truly a special publication that will take any avid sports fan down memory lane spanning all corners of our region.

There is a great sense of collective pride that resides in every page. You gave us both champions and everyday people; all things big and small, young and old, from the iconic down to the symbolic. The common bond? Each picture was special in its own way to the person who delivered it to us.

It was indeed an honor to hear the stories and backgrounds of these photos as they arrived in our office. The sports staff certainly has a tremendous appreciation for the events and tales of yesteryear, so this project was an enjoyable one to complete on behalf of our readers.

Stop by The Messenger or order on-line to secure a copy of ”Sports Remembered” and enjoy our dedication to decades of Messengerland memories today!
