Market club focusing on crop strategies, insurance decisions
FORT DODGE – The Webster County Extension office will host an Ag Marketing Club meeting at 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 13.
Registration prior to the club meeting begins at 12:30 p.m.
The program, “Crop Revenue Protection and Crop Marketing Strategies” will be presented by Steve Johnson, an Iowa State University Extension farm management specialist.
Johnson will discuss 2014 crop insurance, an overview of the farm program, and new crop marketing strategies.
In addition, an update will be provided on the Iowa Commodity Challenge, an online market simulation game provided statewide for learning how to use cash, futures and options contracts as crop marketing tools.
The Extension office is at at 217 S. 25th St., Suite C12.
The meeting is open to the public. A $10 per person or $15 per couple registration fee is payable at the door.
The club meets again on March 13. The featured speakers will be Elwynn Taylor, ISU Extension climatologist, and Johnson.
That program is titled “Crop Weather Update and Managing Crop Risks.”
