POCAHONTAS – Darwin Ray Stanfield, 80, of Pocahontas formally from Lake City went home to be with his Lord. Darwin passed away January 11, 2014 at the Pocahontas Community Hospital. Funeral service will be 10:30am Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City with visitation 2 hours before the funeral service at the church.

Darwin was born July 8, 1933 to Maurice and Reva (Cleveland) Stanfield at the Lake City Hospital. Darwin graduated from Lake City in 1954 and was active in sports, especially track.

On August 5, 1955, Darwin entered the army serving until July 23, 1957. Having completed his army career he had several jobs before he started helping his dad Maurice and grandfather George Stanfield in Stanfield Trucking in Lake City and farming east of Lake City.

Darwin was united in marriage to Marian Anderson of Palmer on October 3, 1954. They were married at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three daughters; Sandra Stanfield of Des Moines, Sheryl (Gary) Ramquist of Norwalk, and Karla (Dondi) Stender of Elkhorn, NE. Darwin was blessed with two grandchildren; Michanda Hoffman of Rochester, MN and D. J. Stender of Elkhorn, NE and Kari Stender of Tulsa Oklahome. Darwin had eight step-children; Ken Point, Alan Point, Mike Point, Jim Point, Deb Boadway, Donna Kakacek, Wayne Point, and Steve Point, eighteen step-grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. Pre-deceased by his parents, his wife Marian, and great grandchild Brandon Kakacek.

On October 26, 1985 Darwin’s wife Marian Stanfield went to be with her Lord at the young age of 49 after a happy and blissful 31 years of marriage to Darwin.

On July 1, 1989 Darwin was united in marriage to Edna Point of Pocahontas at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Palmer. They enjoyed 22 years of being snow birds to Mesa, AZ. Darwin enjoyed mowing greens at golf courses and both working at the flea markets in Mesa and Iowa, meeting and making friends.

Darwin will be greatly missed by all his friends and family that dearly loved him.
