CALLENDER – Doris W. Peterson 90, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie, with Pastor James Davis and Pastor Jon Rollefson officiating. Burial will be at Gowrie Township Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites by the American Legion Peterson Post #431 of Gowrie. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Lynn Peterson of Otho, and Bonnie (Greg) Porter of Callender; son Alan (Dorine) Peterson of Kent; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brad) Johnson of Marion, IA, Kris (Matt) Breton of Altoona, Travis Mathis of El Cajon, CA, and Aaron (Daniell) Peterson of Warrensburg, MO; and great-grandchildren, Chandler and Aubrey Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband Chalmer; parents, Ernest and Margaret (DeHart) Campbell; brother Earl Campbell; and sister Jean Day.

Doris Wilma Campbell Peterson was born July 31, 1923 at Lake City, Iowa, and graduated from Lake City High School. Doris served in the United States Navy during World War II. On January 27, 1950 she was united in marriage to Chalmer Peterson in Somers. The couple farmed in the Callender area all their life. Chalmer passed away October 30, 2013. Doris was a member of Fulton Lutheran Church, Roelyn.
