Maurine Durschmidt, 92, of Fort Dodge, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wayne Pfannkuch officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Maurine is survived by her children, Karen (Bob) Rohlfs, and Keith (Kathy) Durschmidt, all of Fort Dodge; three grandchildren, Wendy (Jim) Byson, Jason (Jenny) Durschmidt and Angie (Eric) Halverson; and six great- grandchildren, Megan and Morgan Byson, Madysen and Mackenzie Halverson and Emmaly and Alyssa Durschmidt. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dallas, her sister Marcella Peltz and her brother Melvin Oberhelman.

Maurine LaVeda Oberhelman, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Onken) Orberhelman, was born February 23, 1921. She graduated from Barnum High School in 1939. On June 5, 1941, Maurine was united in marriage to Dallas Durschmidt at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manson. While Dallas served in the military, Maurine lived for a short time in Florida. Following his discharge, they returned to Iowa where they started farming near Tara, working side by side. Maurine lived at Bickford Cottages for the past four years.

Maurine was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manson. The couple enjoyed spending summers at Okoboji and winters in Arizona. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and growing her flowers. Maurine treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
