Doloris J. Julius, 90, of Barnum, died Thursday, January 9, 2014, at the Simpson Health Center.

A service honoring Doloris’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation is 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday in the Church Commons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor’s selection or to the discretion of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Doloris is survived by her son Steve Julius, Barnum; daughter Vicki (Arnie) Wagner, Eagle Grove; two grandchildren, Andrew and Aaron; her twin sister Doris Soderberg, Colorado Springs, Colo.; her sister-in-law Betty Carlson, South Bend, Ind.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother John Carlson and her sister Dorothy Pearson.

Doloris Jane Carlson, the daughter of Anton and Victoria (Hagberg) Carlson, was born July 6, 1923, in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1942 and North Park College in Chicago, Ill., in 1944. She worked for Carlson and Mabe Welding for 2? years and then McDonald Feed and Tobin Packing Company. On August 4, 1951, Doloris was united in marriage to Farrill Julius in Fort Dodge, in a double wedding ceremony along with her twin sister Doris. Doloris spent her married life as a mother and homemaker.

Doloris was a leader of the Presbyterian Women’s Group and also participated with First Covenant Women’s Group. She was a 4H leader and also served on the Webster County Extension Council. Doloris led a home Bible study for area women for many years and helped with prison ministries at the former Rockwell City Women’s Reformatory.
