Harry “Kent” Ulrich, 64, of Fort Dodge passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Marian Home. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. The visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Kent was born in Bellefonte, PA on August 7, 1949 to Harry and Rose (Saxon) Ulrich. He grew up in Springville, IA and graduated from Springville High School. He then went on to attend Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. He married Mary Jean McKee on November 25, 1970. They made their home in Fort Dodge when Kent was transferred to Fort Dodge Limestone. He was a former member of the Springville United Methodist Church in Springville, IA and was a member of the Rifle & Pistol Club in Fort Dodge. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Kent cared for each of the grandkids from birth to beginning school, during those years many special bonds were formed. Jace and grandpa loved to watch movies together and share stories during Kent’s stay at the Marian Home. Those times will be greatly missed. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors.

Kent is survived by his wife Mary Jean; sons Chris (Julie) Ulrich and Nick Ulrich; grandchildren Brielle, Sabrynn and Jace Ulrich; his sister Patricia Postle of MN; his brother Tom (Robin) Ulrich of Center Point, IA and his sister-in-law Pam (Merlin) Brown of Olin, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Mike Ulrich, and brother-in-laws Mike Postle and Larry McKee.
