POCAHONTAS – Dean W. Johnson, 62, died Monday, Dec 30, 2013. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Lizard Twp. Visitation will be on Thursday at the church from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dean is survived by his wife, Lynn; sons Richard (Paula) Johnson and their daughter Madalynn, all of Omaha, NE; Andrew (Julie) Johnson and their son Jasper, all of Ankeny, IA; and his brother Dale (Arlys) Johnson of Pomeroy, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dean Willard Johnson was born on May 16, 1951, at Fort Dodge, IA, the son of Willard and Illiah (Bjork) Johnson. He graduated from Palmer Consolidated School in 1969, and joined the U. S. Army Reserves, serving from 1970 until 1976. He came home to farm, and on August 31, 1974, he was united in marriage with Lynn Peters at St. John Lutheran Church, Lizard Twp. Together they have spent their entire married life farming and raising livestock in the Pocahontas and Palmer area. Dean will be remembered as a loving husband and proud father and grandfather, and he will be greatly missed.
