SAC CITY – Elmer A. Staiert, 94, passed away at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa on December 13, 2013. He was born April 13, 1919 in rural Carroll County, IA to the late John and Anna (Niehaus) Staiert. He married Antonette Pudenz of Carroll on January 7, 1941 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn, IA. Elmer farmed in the Fonda area for over 50 years and retired to Sac City, IA in 1999. Elmer was a member of the Our Lady of Good Council Church and the Knights of Columbus in Fonda and later the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City.

Antonette survives in Sac City after 72 years of marriage along with 6 children, 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved. The surviving children are Judy (Bill) Oldham of Hereford, AZ, Marjean (Leonard) Higby of Gering, NE, Carolyn Peed of Temecula, CA, Janice Staiert of Sac City, IA, Barbara (Richard) Ingold of Colorado Springs, CO, and Gary (Tammy) Staiert of Bennet, NE.

Father John McGuirk will celebrate a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City under the direction of the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the church starting at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday with a rosary recitation following at 9:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Elmer’s name and left in the care of the funeral home at 1615 W. Milwaukee, Storm Lake, IA 50588.
