Six Dodgers in quarters

COUNCIL BLUFFS – After day one action, the No. 10 (Class 3A) Fort Dodge wrestling team sits in 10th place at the Council Bluffs Classic.

Grand Island (Neb.) leads the pack with 162.5 points, just ahead of Kearney (Neb.).

Sergeant Bluff-Luton is the lone Iowa school ahead of the Dodgers, as they are ninth, a point-and-a-half ahead.

Triston Lara, Erik Birnbaum, Nic Ganzeveld, Jonah Egli, Sam Cook and Riley Prescott all advanced to the quarterfinal round of the championship bracket in their respective weight classes.

Cole Detmering, Keaton Dornath and Carlos Rocha were defeated in first round action on the championship side, while Keenan Cook advanced in the consolation bracket after receiving a bye.

Lara and Cook each earned three pins, while Ganzeveld recorded two on the day.
