FD bowlers split in opener
The Fort Dodge boys and girls bowling teams made their season debut against Johnston here Monday night at Ridgewood Lanes.
The Dodger boys dropped a 3,190-2,976 decision.
Drew Hansen (209-257-466) and Alex Markov paced Fort Dodge.
On the girls side, the Dodgers prevailed by a 2,623-2,485 final.
Leading the way for Fort Dodge were Allison Birnbaum (222-171-393) and Ciara Sturm (219-171-390).
“Considering all the butterflies and everything, I think we did pretty well for the first time out,” said FDSH head coach Don Ervin. “We didn’t shoot up to our potential quite honestly, but we know what we need to do to correct our mistakes.”
In junior varsity action, the Dodger boys tallied a 1,751. Justus McNeil (132-132-264) was the top performer.
Fort Dodge’s JV girls scored a 1,715. Cassandra Plagge (137-110-247) anchored the Dodgers.
Next outing for FDSH is Thursday at Marshalltown. Start time is set for 3:45 p.m.
