Mardell Lee, age 85, of Harlan, and formerly of Perry, died on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Elmcrest Retirement Community in Harlan, IA. Graveside services will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Rockwell City on Friday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to her estate and may be left at the Funeral Home. Mardell Margaret Lee was born on August 2, 1928 at Rockwell City, IA to Lonnie Edwin and Bertha Irene (Otto) Stevenson. She grew up in Rockwell, City, IA and graduated from the Rockwell City High School. She then continued her education at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Dodge, IA. She married Donald Boyd Lee in 1950. Mardell’s nursing career was at the Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City, IA and the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, IA.
Mardell was a member of the Church of Christ in Rockwell City. She loved working with horses and was a member of the Saddle Club and also helped working in the cook shack. She enjoyed reading, traveling and going with friends to different casino’s.
Mardell was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Bertha Stevenson, three brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include her son, Darwin Lee, daughter, Debra Dillinger, a sister, Ruthann Harrison, Lawton, IA, granddaughters, Paige Lee and Meghan Dillinger, and special family members, Jennifer (Jim) Birch, Harlan, IA.
