Making FD better

To the editor:

On behalf of It Gets Better FD & Beyond we would like to thank our Ambassadors for all their hard work this year. They all are silent warriors of our community you will rarely hear tooting their own horn.

These kids are very passionate, caring, motivated youths. They sacrifice their time on the weekends and evenings to give of their talents on a regular basis. The talents they give range from artistic capabilities for our event banners, EMT certifications for our events, and the gift of themselves to reach out to their peers in ways adults can’t.

Special congratulations goes out to Brandon Liedtke, of Fort Dodge, for representing IGBFD & Beyond at the Governors Bullying Prevention Summit in Des Moines in November.

We also want to congratulate Lukas Brown from Fort Dodge Senior High for earning the Student of the Month for November. He has volunteered countless times in the past two years for various causes. His parents, Kriscinda and Greg Brown, have been crucial players since 2011 of our progress as a nonprofit.

We would like to publicly announce that IGBFD and Fort Frenzy will be hosting the IGBFD Kids Choice Awards in April 2014. We are asking kids to nominate any mentor that has made their life better. Nominations have begun and will continue until March 1, 2014. We want to hear the great stories from all over North Central Iowa from kids and allow them to help us award deserving mentors.

Mentors may include pastors, youth leaders, educators, counselors, lunch ladies, janitors, coaches. Anyone who has made your life better, we want to know.

The Kids Choice Awards Banquet at Fort Frenzy on April 13 will be a night to recognize how our community is coming together to make things better for kids.

Nominations can be submitted at or
