Explosion is under investigation

The Fort Dodge Fire Department was called out Saturday afternoon to investigate a report of an explosion at 1433 First Ave. N.

The incident left no visible damage to the outside of the home.

Fort Dodge Fire Department Capt. Paul Neeson, said the explosion occurred in the living room of the home. He was unable to say what caused the explosion. The department requested help from the state fire marshal’s office.

After the state fire marshal’s office completed its investigation, Neeson said, the case was turned back over to the Fort Dodge Fire Department and the Fort Dodge Police Department.

Two people were in the home at the time of the explosion. He said both were checked by medical personnel but refused transport. One of the individuals sought medical treatment later on their own, he said.

Fire units cleared the call at about 6 p.m. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Dodge Police Department and Fort Dodge Fire Department.
