Bowl or bust for Iowa Central

WAHPETON, ND – The saying is simple today for Iowa Central

Win and they’re in.

The Tritons (4-5 overall, 2-5 Midwest Football Conference) will travel to North Dakota Science (3-6, 2-5) here Saturday, with the opportunity to clinch a spot in the Graphic Edge Bowl on Dec. 8 with a victory.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

“It’s all right there in front of us,” said Iowa Central head coach Kevin Twait. “We’re either going to a bowl game or we’re not based on the outcome of this one game now.”

The Tritons are searching for their fourth consecutive postseason berth and first Graphic Edge Bowl trip since 2011.

“The sophomores really want this,” Twait said. “It would be a great way to finish the regular season, without question.”

In their earlier meeting this season, The Tritons picked up a 16-0 victory. Last week’s NJCAA national special teams player of the week Nathan Criswell kicked three field goals in that contest, from 30, 28 and 27 yards out.

Quarterback Kendall Jackson threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Andy Henry.

“We’ve had three good practices this week,” Twait said. “The guys are focused.

“This is a tall order with the long road trip. They’re always a tough team at home.”

The Wildcats own two conference victories over Ellsworth. The Tritons have picked up wins over Ellsworth and Science.
