Celebrating an anniversary

To the editor:

Children & Families of Iowa would like to sincerely thank the community friends and supporters that attended our open house on Oct. 11 and helped to celebrate our 125th anniversary.

Children & Families of Iowa is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring hope, building futures and changing lives throughout Iowa. With offices in Ankeny, Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Osceola and Ottumwa, Children & Families of Iowa is restoring hope for victims of domestic violence, helping teens find their futures, creating safe homes for children, preparing children to succeed and helping people reshape their lives.

The Fort Dodge office, established in 1965, provides an array of services to assist children and families that includes Mental Health therapy, Behavioral Health Intervention Services, Domestic and International Adoption services, anger management and the Parent Partner program.

The Fort Dodge office has expanded services in recent years to include: Telehealth – a service that provides face-to-face interactive psychiatric services, evaluations and medication checks by using live two-way video teleconferencing equipment; Crisis Child Care Services that provides free emergency child care to families in crisis for children 0-12 years of age, 24 hours a day, seven days a week at various quality day care facilities; and Crisis Intervention Services that employs professional counselors to assist families and individuals in resolving immediate crisis situations, and helps them take the first step toward regaining control of their lives; and the Youth Employment Program which provides assistance to at risk youth ages 14-21 with education and career readiness skills.

With the continued support of our generous and caring community, Children & Families of Iowa hopes to continue to provide quality services and supports to all of the children and families that we serve for many more years to come.
