Brian Lee Helmers, the son of Richard and Ethel (Byson) Helmers, was born July 23, 1966 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was raised on a farm between Coalville and Vincent and attended school at Fort Dodge. Following his education, Brian enlisted into the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, Brian continued his training by receiving his pilot’s license and auto mechanics training. Health concerns prevented Brian from becoming a commercial pilot so he established Maxx Tree Service, later adding his fence and gate company.

On February 7, 2011, he was united in marriage to Brenda Lansing in Las Vegas and the couple made their home at Humboldt.
