Darald Eugene Richardson, 86, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Laupp officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Darald Eugene Richardson, the son of Wiley and Margaret (Peterson) Richardson, was born August 7, 1927 in Algona, Iowa. At the age of 12 he moved with his family to Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1945.

Darald served in the Army from 1945 to 1947 in Germany during WWII and 1951 during the Korean War. He participated in the 2011 Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

On June 11, 1950, he was united in marriage to Beverly Chambers in Fort Dodge. They were happily married for 57 years and raised two wonderful sons Steven and Mark. Darald was the District Manager for the Valspar Corporation for 32 years retiring in 1987.

Darald was an active member of First Baptist Church, serving as deacon, head usher, and being on nominating committees. He was a Master Mason of Ashlar Lodge and a volunteer for 17 years at TRMC. Darald enjoyed his family, golf, traveling, Hawkeye sports and fishing on Lake Bemidji.

Survivors include his son Mark (Melanie) Richardson of Burlington, Iowa, 5 grandchildren Lucas, Heath, Michel, Christopher, and John Richardson and several nieces and nephews.

Darald was preceded in death by his wife Beverly in 2008; a son, Steven; his parents; three brothers, Everett, Paul and Walter; and two sisters, Etta Bunner and Leona Woods.

Memorials may be directed towards the First Baptist Church or to the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.
