CLINTON, CONN – Janis K. Nelson, 77, died on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at a local hospital from complications of surgery.

Janis Kay Parsons was born in Farnhamville Feb. 3, 936, to A. Wayne Parsons and Verda A. (Early) Parsons. The family relocated to Fort Dodge that same year. She attended the Fort Dodge Public Schools and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1954.

Janis married Harold G. Nelson of Hampton in 1954. Through the years they lived in Hampton, Fort Dodge and Ankeny, Iowa and then moved to Clinton, Conn. While in Ankeny, Janis worked for the State of Iowa, and in Connecticut, for the FDIC.

She is survived by her husband, daughters, Laurie (Roy) Schlachtenhauten, Eau Claire, Wisc., Wendy (Ben), Maupin, Sidney, New York, son, Thomas Nelson, Far West, Utah and brothers Denis W. Parsons of Leesburg, Florida and James D. Parsons, Fort Dodge. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Kevin C. Parsons.

A Memorial Service is pending, date and location yet to be determined.
