Fundraiser succeeds

To the editor:

On behalf of It Gets Better Fort Dodge and Beyond, I would like to thank all the participants that came out to the Scholarship fundraiser “Run For One Another,” a 5K run held at Kennedy Park on Oct. 5.

Our organization would like to recognize a great bunch of kids from the Fort Dodge Middle School Cross Country team who won the Team Spirit award. They truly represented this community and truly ran for one another.

Thank you to Sen. Daryl Beall, Rep. Helen Miller and Mayor Matt Bemrich for supporting It Gets Better FD & Beyond along with our amazing Ambassadors, to recognize “IGBFD Live For One Another” month.

We would like to thank Webster County Conservation, with special thanks to Matt Cosgrove, Erin Ford and Karen Hansen and the friends of WCC, Pepsi, Fort Frenzy, American Concrete, Nettie’s, Fort 8, Friends of Dr. Ed Miller, J.A.M.M. to the music by Jerrad Hanson, Troy Waller Auto Body, Family Bowling Center, Fareway, Hy-Vee, ENT Dr. F.E. Gonzales, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Emile Li, Anytime Fitness, Three Eagles Communications, Barbecue Thief, Iowa Outdoors Store, Roosenboom Family Farms, Regina Suhrbier from The Messenger, and the many individuals that signed up to volunteer for future events.

It Gets Better FD and Beyond is now accepting applications from high school seniors in the area to apply for our Dr. Ed Miller Scholarship. We are looking for deserving high school seniors who live with integrity, humility, and compassion, and plan to continue their education in college next fall.

We want you to nominate the person who puts others first. GPA requirement is 2.7 or higher. Nominations are accepted on Facebook – It Gets Better FD page.

Thank you, Fort Dodge, for continuing to support our efforts.
