FDCSD launches recognition program
The Fort Dodge Community School District has launched its students and employee of the month recognition program.
One elementary, one middle school and one high school student, as well as one staff member will be honored monthly for their outstanding accomplishments.
Jordan Lennon is the October Elementary Student of the Month. He was nominated by his teacher, Kathy Walters. She said Lennon has a love of reading that is obvious and that having him in her last reading group of the day serves as inspiration for her to finish her day strong. He is the son of Ronny and Heidi Lennon.
Aaliyah Warland is the October Middle School Student of the Month. Warland was nominated by Patty Loots. According to Loots, Warland “embodies that type of student who does the right thing, and does it well, even when no one is looking. She exhibits the kind of character and academic achievement that will take her far.” Warland is the daughter of Jennifer Warland and Joe Warland.
Stephanie Dunbar is the High School Student of the Month for October. She was nominated by Ryan Takatsuka. His nomination of Dunbar sited her academic performance as well as the growth in her character and kindness. Takatsuka wrote, “she is courteous and respectful when expressing her opinion and supportive of others when they express theirs.” Dunbar is the daughter of Andy and Carrie Dunbar.
Kathy Arends, teacher at Duncombe Elementary, is the Employee of the Month for October. She was nominated by two of her coworkers. They indicated Arends’ willingness to share ideas and resources with staff as well as her guidance to new teachers as reasons for her nomination.
In addition, both said Arends models good character and kindness for her students through the way she treats them and the staff.
