FARNHAMVILLE – Robert A. Johnson 82, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Shady Oaks Care Center, Lake City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at the First United Church, Farnhamville, with Rev. Dr. James Chesnutt officiating. Burial will be at Reading Township Cemetery, Farnhamville, with Military Rites by American Legion Post #510 of Farnhamville. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Robert is survived by his wife Frances; son Allen (Vickie) Johnson of Farnhamville; daughters, Christine (Randy) Jensen of Louisville, NE, and Roberta (Kendall) Seil of Fort Dodge; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Karri, Danelle, Megan, Cody, and Kayla; two great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Kole; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Ethel (Johnson) Johnson; and sister Cleo Wyatt.

Robert August Johnson was born May 18, 1931 at Lake City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Farnhamville, graduating from Farnhamville High School, with the Class of 1949. Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954 attaining the rank of Sergeant. On March 6, 1955 he was united in marriage to Frances Clutter and the couple established their home on a farm near Farnhamville. Robert farmed for most of his life, retiring in 1991. That same year, the couple moved into Farnhamville, and enjoyed their winters in Arizona. Robert was an active member of the First United Church, the American Legion, and served 18 years on the Farnhamville Elevator Board.
