Gael volleyball wins in five

ALGONA – The St. Edmond volleyball squad prevailed in a five-set match against Bishop Garrigan on Thursday.

The Gaels (10-15 overall) rallied past the Golden Bears, 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 29-27 and 15-11.

”This was a total team effort,” SEHS head coach Dee Huss said. ”Flexibility has been our theme for the season and the girls showed that this week. It’s nice to take a road victory (in the North Central Conference) and have the crowd support we had (last night).”

Madeline Baldwin paced St. Edmond with 17 kills and 16 of 20 serving. Alli Huss and Anna Yung both contributed 12 kills each. Huss recorded four blocks.

Paige Savery tallied 34 digs and only misfired on one serve out of 12 attempts. Jaci Stumpf came up with 17 digs and seven kills.

Garrigan is now 14-15.

The Gaels square off with Hampton-Dumont for Senior Night on Tuesday.
