Gaels sweep on the road

CLEAR LAKE – The St. Edmond volleyball team jumped back into the win column Tuesday night, earning a North Central Conference sweep over Clear Lake.

Scores were 25-21, 25-20 and 25-20.

Anna Yung finished 10-for-11 serving with five kills and four aces for the Gaels (9-14 overall, 2-3 in the NCC). Madeline Baldwin (14 kills and two blocks), Jaci Stumpf (19 of 19 serving and three aces), Lauren Moeding (8-for-8 serving and 26 assists) and Paige Savery (7 of 8 serving, 21 digs and one kill) were the other top performers for St. Edmond.

“It was a nice win to get under our belt in conference play,” said SEHS head coach Dee Huss. “At times we looked a little rusty since we haven’t been able to practice since our match (against Humboldt) last Thursday.”

The Gael junior varsity (21-11 and 21-13) and freshman (21-12, 19-21 and 15-9) both came out on the short end.

Next action for St. Edmond is Thursday when they host 13th-ranked (Class 3A) Iowa Falls-Alden (16-3, 5-0). Start time is set for 7:30 p.m.
