Kevin Lomica, 55, of Fort Dodge passed away on Saturday September 28, 2013 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday October 2, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with burial following at North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Kevin was born on Friday June 13, 1958 in Mitchell, South Dakota. Kevin was proud of the fact that he was born on Friday the 13th. He was also proud of his South Dakota Heritage. Kevin completed his elementary education in Mission, South Dakota. His family moved to Fort Dodge in 1973 where he graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1977. He was employed at Iowa Central Industries for several years and then also at Burger King and Bonanza Restaurant. In 2003 he had cancer surgery and was proud to be a cancer survivor.

Kevin was fond of his nieces and nephews and enjoyed playing games with them. His greatest past time enjoyment was watching and recording television programs, especially the game shows and soap operas. Kevin lived on his own until recent health problems required him to move to Country View Care in Waterloo, IA.

Kev as he was known was a special person to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his father Floyd Lomica of Fort Dodge; sister Natalie (Randy) Tegtmeyer of Clarion, IA and Lori (Kirk) Machovec of Dewitt, IA; his brother Brian (Kelly) Lomica of Alleman, IA; 8 nieces and 5 nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Lomica in 1985.

The family would like to thank Life Works of Fort Dodge, local medical care providers and the Iowa City Hospital for their care and support of Kevin during his life.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are left to the Epilepsy Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
