Crawford trial to begin Tuesday
A man who allegedly tried to kill his ex-wife in their Fort Dodge home earlier this year will stand trial in front of Webster County judge beginning Tuesday.
Larry D. Crawford, 44, previously pleaded not guilty to an attempted murder charge. He was granted a bench trial last week after his attorney, Charles Kenville, made the request.
Crawford is accused of assaulting his ex-wife, Jolene Crawford, in their Fort Dodge home at 339 Loomis Ave. on March 2. Jolene Crawford suffered blunt-force head trauma during the incident.
Officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department responded to the Crawford home after receiving a call about an assault. According to police reports, when officers arrived they found Jolene Crawford unconscious in her bedroom.
She was initially taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center where she was treated for head trauma. She was then airlifted to a Des Moines hospital in critical condition.
Larry Crawford is being held in the Webster County Jail on $1 million bond.
