CYLINDER – Paul W. Freeman was born August 21, 1937 in Estherville to Paul F. Freeman and Wilda Thomson Freeman. He graduated from Cylinder High School in 1955 and later enlisted in the Iowa National Guard. Paul was united in marriage to Nancy Fisher on February 15, 1974.

He enjoyed serving the community in the family owned Cylinder State Bank until his retirement in 1998. Paul and Nancy enjoyed traveling in their motor home, hunting, fishing, and spent countless hours at their grandchildren’s activities. Most of all, Paul loved and cherished being with his family.

Paul passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. Paul is survived by his wife Nancy, children: Jody (Dan) Zarnowiec, Lori Hildreth, Anne (Greg) Sween, Jeff Madsen, Kristen (Gerard) Ruiz, Paul K. (Sheri) Freeman; grandchildren, Jennifer Weisselberg, Lauren Mirza, Danielle Zarnowiec; Haley Hildreth; Zachary Freeman, Kelsie and McKenzie Sween; Katie, Natalie and Gerard Ruiz; Paul Clayton, Allison, and Seth Freeman; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters Donna (Roger) Jensen and Margie (Arnold) Cody; brother Bob (Stephanie) Freeman; and his sisters-in-law Patty (Jerry) Solberg and Shirlee Chitwood.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Wilda Freeman; father-in-law and mother-in-law Arnold and Evelyn Fisher; and brother-in-law Jim Fisher.

Visitation is 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday at the Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Private family services will be held at a later time. Online condolences:
