Tritons knock off Southeastern

BURLINGTON – The Iowa Central volleyball team upset 13th-ranked (NJCAA Div. II) Southeastern in five games on Wednesday night.

Scores were 25-20, 24-26, 25-20, 22-25 and 15-10 in favor of the Tritons (12-9 overall, 4-1 in the ICCAC).

Kaila Hurley and Kelci Larson each posted 11 kills for Iowa Central.

Shelby Schindler (Bishop Garrigan) also contributed seven kills and six blocks, while Nichole Oberfoell tallied 18 digs and Rebecca Hinz added three aces.

“It was a good hard-fought road match,” said ICCC head coach Fredrick Wagner. “Of course, (the Blackhawk) fans were energized and really into it. Anytime you can win in five games, it’s a lot of fun.”

The Tritons host Indian Hills (12-15) on Friday. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
