KIDZMANIA a success

To the editor:

On August 24, Linking Families and Communities presented “KIDZMANIA, A Fun Family Adventure” at the Crossroads Mall. KIDZMANIA was the first community event held by Linking Families and Communities, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to young children and their families. The organization’s purpose is to empower parents in raising happy, healthy children by providing families with education and support through programs and by coordinating community resources. KIDZMANIA certainly fit the mission as it showcased local businesses and services available in a fun festival atmosphere. KIDZMANIA raised over $12,000 for parent education and support programs that will be used in Calhoun, Pocahontas and Webster counties.

KIDZMANIA had something for everyone. Over 1,200 children enjoyed the activities, from the ISU Insect Zoo to face painting, as well as with information about businesses and services and that are available in our community. Thanks to all who attended the event.

As with anything, there is so much that goes on behind the scenes that make an event successful, KIDZMANIA was no exception. I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the wonderful committee members who worked hard and met often to plan the event. Committee members include: Randy Kuhlman, Amy Bruno, Joy Thoma, Bethany Frerichs, Toni Wallace, Melanie Fierke, John Williams, Kerstan O”Brion and Kathleen Koch. Thanks also go to the Crossroads Mall for hosting the event, all of the wonderful businesses and service providers that were exhibitors that day as well as those that performed on stage. A big thank you to the Iowa Central Dance Team, Fort Dodge Senior High Cheer Squad and the St. Edmond Cheer Squad for the invaluable help before and during the event.
