CLARE – Bessie Violet Allbee, 96, of Clare, Iowa went home to be with her Lord Sunday, September 22nd 2013. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Doug Rushton officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Bessie Violet Blaha was born to Sofia and Frank Blaha on July 3, 1917, in Callender, Iowa. Bessie attended school in Callender and on October 19th 1937 married Floyd Allbee. They started their life together in Fort Dodge and shortly thereafter moved to Romulus, Michigan. They had four children Duwayne, Dwaylene, Donna and Darrell. She was also proud to be Grandma to twelve grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren.

Bessie’s life was filled with all the attributes of Iowa farm life. She was a hard worker and enjoyed every minute of it. She had a love for her barn yard chickens as well as gardening, sewing, milking the cows and putting up her Christmas lights every year. She was a fantastic cook and spent many weekend days making large meals for even her extended family. Bessie was always a hard worker and quite proficient at arm wrestling as many of her loved grand children can attest to. Always high spirited and feisty, Bessie had a sincere love for life and even a greater love for her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Floyd and son Duwayne. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
