GOWRIE – Malcolm L. Schwarz, age 80, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Gowrie Care Center, Gowrie. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the United Methodist Church, Gowrie with Pastor Jane Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in the Gowrie Township Cemetery with a flag presentation by American Legion Peterson Post #431 of Gowrie. Friends may call after 12:00 (noon) Wednesday, September 25 at the church. Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife Carol; three step-daughters, five nieces, one nephew, and several great-nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank and Ida (Klippel) Schwarz, wife Dona, sister Betty Schwarz Johnson, brothers Alan, Ivan, Leonard, and Keith Schwarz.

Malcolm L. Schwarz was born on February 4, 1933 in Gowrie and graduated from the Gowrie Consolidated High School in 1951. Malcolm served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Dona Setterstrom on September 20, 1958. Malcolm worked for the United States Postal Service for 32 years, retiring in 1989. He was united in marriage with Carol Mace on August 13, 2013 at Gowrie. Malcolm was a member of the United Methodist Church, Gowrie. The family would like to thank Jim and Rose Wolf for their friendship and assistance during Malcolm’s illness. We really appreciated all they did.
