School board will reorganize Monday

The Fort Dodge Community School District board will meet Monday at the district office, 104 S. 17th St.

It is the first meeting following the school board election on Sept. 10.

The retiring board will approve consent agenda items.

Board President Stuart Cochrane will present the school bell to Jan Merz, who, after serving the FDCSD board for more than 20 years, is retiring. It is her final meeting.

Newly elected board member Lisa Shimkat and re-elected board members Cochrane and Brian Forsythe will be sworn in. Board president and vice president will be nominated. Dates and times for board meetings will then be set.

Doug Van Zyl, FDCSD superintendent, will update the board on district business.
