Eagle Grove part of North Iowa farm tour

EAGLE GROVE – Three Eagle Grove sites are among the scheduled stops on a Fresh on the Farm tour on Sunday.

Healthy Harvest of North Iowa, in partnership with local farmers, Iowa State University Extension and sponsors, is offering a series of free, on-farm tours providing the public an opportunity to meet the farmers, learn about their farms, sample the foods they grow and purchase their products.

Host stops in Eagle Grove are:

C’s 270th Street Gardens, owned by Cheryl and Carl Johnson, 3323 270th St., Eagle Grove. Guests are welcome to tour the gardens, including the new, movable high tunnel, see the farm-raised chicken system, sample and pick up cooking tips and samples from the Iowa Central Community College culinary students’ demonstrations.

Boone River Bison, owned by Don Garrett, 1111 255th St., Eagle Grove. Guests can meet the wooly beasts, learn about the quality of their meat and listen to some of Garrett’s stories.

Lewright Meats & Deli, 317 W. Broadway, Eagle Grove. Guests can sample products from Lewright Meats, which has been in business for more than 70 years. Lewright buys all of its meats from local producers.
