FDSH graduate wins poetry contest

Keegan Gormally, a 2013 graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High, won “Best Of Issue” for the winter 2012-2013 “Just Poetry” national quarterly. This award included a $500 scholarship. His poem, “Apathy?” will now compete for poem of the year against seven other entries. The winner will receive a $500 scholarship.

Voting for the top poems is done by email. Visit justpoetry.org, click internet voting on the left column, and follow the instructions to vote. Voting can be done only once per email address. The voting deadline is Sept. 15.

Gormally was a Dodger baseball standout. He is attending the University of Iowa majoring in English/lit and hoping to gain entry into the University of Iowa Writers Workshop.
