Private Lands workshop coming to Brushy

BRUSHY CREEK – A private lands workshop will be held from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at Brushy Creek State Recreation Area, 2820 Brushy Creek Road, east of Lehigh, for anyone wanting to learn ways of enhancing land using techniques that lead to long-term sustainability.

The free workshop will feature the district forester for this region and biologists from around the state who have experience and knowledge in natural resource management. Topics include woodland health, timber growth, biodiversity, grassland management, burning, and programs to help landowners implement or improve habitat.

A free wild game feed will be served and the evening will end with a tour to a private landowner’s prairie restoration, a summer burn management site, and an oak savanna restoration.
